Drivers Airbag Igniter

Last week I had error P1801. Quick search on Google gave me 90% chance of comm 2000 failure. To be precise, fault in airbag flat cable clock spring.

As you turn the wheel around that clock spring compress and release flat cable an eventually cable itself fails down and you have airbag warning light. Searching the Google the only fix I could find is to replace pricy comm 2000. Not one tut how to fix that flat cable. Until now First I had to be sure it was the clock sprint that failed. Luckily there are nice tuts for removing Airbag and comm 2000. And Please obey safety rules for removing airbag!

After I have removed airbag and I have connected 2.2 Ohm resistor in place of airbag before comm 2000 unit. After that airbag light went off when I turned the key.

So it is definitely the flat cable clock spring When I removed airbag I have noticed that there is green connector inside that is NOT connected to anything. That green connector is for level 2 igniter (a.k.a stage 2 airbag) At small speed collision airbag opens only with level 1. At high speed collision airbag opens with level1 and level 2.

Luckily I had only level 1 airbag. My airbag had only one blue connector marked level 1. That made me thinking Maybe clock spring for green connector is OK and I can use those wires. I have opened comm 2000 and checked green and blue connectors. They appear to be connected at the same manner. To be sure I have checked with universal millimeter. I can use wires from green connector.

Citroen made blue and green connectors different. You can’t make mistake and plug them the opposite way. Blue - green and green - blue. Descargar monica 8.5.

There is an easy solution for that problem. Grind down this side of blue harness connector. Also grind down this from green connector. After that connect blue connector from car harness to green connector on comm 2000. Connect green connector from comm 2000 to airbag unit. Reconnect car battery and turn the key.

Airbag light went off P.S. Ok, this is not the real tut how to fix flat clock spring cable. It is how to bay pass it with the same one. Disclaimer: I will not be responsible if yours airbag is faulty in collision after this modification. Buy new comm 2000 unit and go to proper car garage. Best regards, brajomobil. Hi brajombil i stayed with you all the way to the last paragraph 'After that connect blue connector from car harness to green connector on comm 2000.

Connect green connector on airbag unit. Reconnect car battery and turn the key. Airbag light went off' Are you saying plug the lume blue connector into the green connector on the com unit and not to reconnect the airbag? Why cant you just leave the diode in the blue plug? Sorry if these are daft questions but i have only had one coms unit apart and that was to replace the little plastic plunger on the indicator stalk. Then greeen connector from comm 2000 to airbag. In that way you have connected airbag to lume blue connetor as it was in the original state. You have just bypassed clock spring blue connector, nothing else. If you leave 2.2 ohm resistor in lume blue connector, your warning airbag light will be off, but in case of collision airbag will NOT open/inflate! Best regards, brajomobil.
